07/25/2011 – ABJJ Students finish strong at the All-Army Combatives Championship

Soldiers gather from around globe to battle for All-Army combatives title

Sixty-five teams from around the world have sent 410 fighters to compete in the 2011 U.S. Army Combatives Championship starting July 21, 2011, in Fort Hood’s Abrams Physical Fitness Center. The tournament features eight weight classes, from bantamweight at 110 pounds and under (for males) to heavyweight 206 and over (males), to ensure competitors have a fighting chance in their respective weight class. Three of the competitors from Fort Richardson train at Anchorage Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Dan Brown had 9 matches total losing his semifinal bout securing him a 5th place in the 185lb weight class and Daniell Cook won his first four matches and lost his Championship Bout for the 170lb Belt securing himself 2nd place in the division. Great work Guys!!!
